Sandra BlechaMay 2003Sandra was thrilled to learn she had won the contest. She is planning to wed Wayne Svoboda on September 18, 2004. The couple has been engaged since October 25, 2002 when Wayne surprised Sandra by proposing in the most romantic of destinations, Hawaii. Sandra and Wayne met while both working for an airline. When they first met, Wayne told her that she was the most beautiful woman in the room. From that moment on, Sandra knew this was the man for her. The couple hopes to return to Hawaii for their honeymoon. On May 13, 2003, Sandra was invited into the House of Brides in Glen Ellyn to pick out her dress. Accompanied by her best friend Debby, the lucky bride-to-be was greeted by the House of Brides Manager Donna. With hundreds of fabulous designer dresses to choose from, we got started. Sandra wasn't sure what style dress she wanted.  As an expert in choosing wedding gowns, Donna went to work. After asking a few questions and showing a few styles, Donna was able to determine a style for Sandra. Sandra looked beautiful in all the dresses, but it was when she was wearing the fourth dress that we saw that special spark. When she stepped onto the platform and saw herself in the mirror, her eyes lit up. Everyone there knew instantly that was "The Dress."  Donna, wanting to make this experience as special as possible, suggested she keep trying on dresses so that she could be sure.Sandra liked other dresses, but none seemed to compare. She went back to the first dress she loved, turned to us and said, "This is it. This is the one." It was a magical moment, standing and observing her in her dream wedding gown.
