Jennifer OsoskyFebruary 2005Lance and I both grew up in Aurora, IL. We met in high school, and we became very close friends. We started dating soon after graduation from high school and have been together ever since (nearly nine years)! We attended college together at Illinois State University and we both live in Chicago now. Even though Lance and I dated for so many years, I was still completely surprised when he asked me to marry him. He asked me to marry him on the beach in Acapulco, Mexico on June 26th, 2004. We spent that morning shopping downtown, and then spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing by the pool. At sunset, we headed to the beach and went horseback riding and then sat and watched the sun set. Lance was very nervous and he was sweating…even though the sun was down! I thought something was wrong and I kept asking him if he was ok. He insisted that he was (but he later told me he was so nervous)! He asked me to walk along the water with him, and when we were standing in the waves he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so shocked and I started crying, but –of course- I said yes! Lance was completely relaxed after he had finally asked (he had been planning for a month) and he was ready to eat. We went out to dinner at the hotel, but I was so excited that I didn’t even eat. The rest of our vacation was wonderful, but I was extremely excited to come home to share the news with our families and friends. We are getting married on December 10, 2005. We will have a church ceremony and our reception will be held at the Bolingbrook Golf Club. We’re planning a Christmas-themed wedding, and I would like the colors to be white and gold, but we are still working out all the details. I was just beginning to shop for my wedding gown when Chicago Wedding Pages called to let me know I had won a free wedding gown by entering the contest on-line at Chicago Wedding Pages Magazine. I was so excited -I called my family and all my bridesmaids. This has definitely been the best surprise so far. We are planning a big wedding, so all the help we can get is very much appreciated. I haven’t decided on which dress I will choose yet, but shopping has been really fun and I know I will find exactly what I am looking for. For the wedding, the most important part to Lance and me is having all of our family and friends there to celebrate our wedding day with us. I think the best part of the whole experience will be coming from it married. We are looking forward to our new life together, and planning like crazy for it. In addition to planning the wedding, we are looking for our first house to buy. We are hoping to spend our honeymoon in Hawaii or the Caribbean…definitely someplace warm and tropical! And we are already looking forward to relaxing after all the planning has come to an end! |
