Designers provide House of Brides swatch cards for in-store use only. We are not provided extra swatches to give-out to our customers. Nor do we request swatches from a designer.
We strongly recommend viewing a swatch card in-person at a House of Brides salon. Or if you’re unable to visit a House of Brides salon, we suggest visiting an authorized retailer of the designer in your area. It is important to view the designer’s own color swatch. Colors can vary between designers and on computer monitors.
Also, colors can vary between designer dye-lots. Designers dye their fabrics one bolt at a time. Because the bolts of fabric are dyed separately, slight variations in color can occur. If you’re able to receive a swatch from the designer, the swatch will most likely be cut from a different bolt of fabric and possibly with a slight variation in color from the dress.
Be advised most wedding vendors such as reception sites, tuxedo retailers, or florists will not ask or need a swatch of your exact color. Wedding vendors work with color shades and do not dye-specific to your color.
Eva Buziecki's Bits: If you plan to dye shoes to match, it’s better to wait until you receive your dress and take a piece of fabric from an inside seam. This will ensure the closest blend to the dress color. Ask your seamstress or tailor to clip a piece of fabric off for you. They’ll also make sure to clip a piece you won’t need when altering!
